We Offer The Best Transfer Service at the Best Prices!
Nobody knows more about converting LocoScript Documents and Data Files than LocoScript Software! After all, our software designers wrote all the versions of LocoScript for PC and PCW as well as the highly specialised utilities for converting the files into other formats.
What's more, we provide a totally professional service:-
We convert literally 1,000s of files every month and so your discs are in good hands with LocoScript Software (Fellows of the Institute of Analysts and Programmers). We are aware that there are many companies charging much more (up to £40.00 per disc!) for a vastly inferior service. Don't take chances with your data. In extreme cases where we really cannot read an old 3" disc you can either send us another copy (if available) and we will try again or we can often provide an extra, data recovery service although we will of course inform you first. Once you have loaded the converted text into your new word processor you are free to re-edit, save and print as you wish - it ceases to be a LocoScript file and becomes a Word document or whatever.
To book your transfer service, click-on the Converting 3" Discs link in our main menu. This applies equally to 3.5" Amstrad discs and will take you to an on-screen Order Form showing all conversion options and pricing and which you can print out and send with your discs.
| The Locolink Lease package*
Suitable for those with large numbers of 3" discs to convert, costs £69 plus shipping with the following cash-back offers:- £20 if the package is returned within 30 days, £15 within 60 days or £10 within 90 days which is the maximum lease period. The Locolink Lease package remains the property of SD Microsystems Ltd/LocoScript Software and special delivery postal service should be used for its return. * This software ONLY works on PCs running up to and including Windows 98SE and of course requires your PCW still to be operational.
If you do not have a working PCW or your PC has Windows ME or later then an alternative is to purchase our Locolink For Windows (LLFW) PC software and to use our copying service. We then copy the (unconverted) files from 3" on to PC CD at the greatly reduced rate of £2.00 each. You can then do the conversion on the PC using LLFW which costs £39.95 + £2.00 post/packing.

Non-LocoScript File Transfers
Please note that although we can transfer anything from Amstrad disc to PC format the only type of files we can actually convert are LocoScript documents and LocoFile datafiles. All other files present on a disc (such as PCW system files which have no relevance to PCs) will usually be ignored unless you request otherwise.
Generally there is little point in transferring programs as PCW software won't run on a PC and vice versa. This is because an operating system running on one computer is totally different to that on another. There may however be a PC version of your favourite PCW program such as LocoScript itself of course or Mallard Basic or Money Manager which will do a similar job but you will need to check this with the publisher of the original software.
In the case of Database files or Spreadsheet data it is unlikely that an entirely different program running on a PC will be able to read information straight from a PCW. You will need to check whether there is an equivalent program for PCs or if you can resave the data in a 'universal' format (such as ASCII,CSV) which can be reprocessed by the new program. Refer to your software manual(s) to see what import/export options are available - we cannot offer any further advice on using non-LocoScript Software programs. LocoFile data files, however, can be converted to DBase 3 or 4 format or FoxPro for Windows which we believe many Windows databases (including Access) can import directly.
Note. LocoFiles converted into DBASE 4 format also load directly in Microsoft
